Fall is that time of year that I absolutely love! The trees start to turn beautiful colors that beg to be painted. The crisp air makes you want to cuddle with someone and drink hot apple cider! 🙂 And the most favorite thing- Halloween!
Halloween has been one of my all time favorite holidays. Ghost stories, costumes, creative decorations, basically anything Halloween related excites me!
Every year since I could remember I dress up as something or someone. I have been fortunate to work at companies where they allow you to wear costumes. (Even if they didn’t I would have probably still dressed up. 🙂 ) Since my schedule has been hectic this year I decided to go classic but add a bit of flair.
So I scavenged all the resale shops and found the perfect witch dress. It is really form fitting and hugs the waist and thighs really well and flairs out at the bottom. It totally reminds me of the dress Morticia Addams wore.
The dress is really nice but it didn’t scream witch. So I decided to add some sleeves and something else to give it some pizzaz. After looking through aisles of fabric at the fabric store I found the fabric that was perfect. One side had spiders and webs that were silver and on the reverse side they were purple so it matched the tulle that was on the dress.
Now it was time for the magic! Taking the fabric I measured, cut, and then sewed on the sleeves. Viola!
With the leftover fabric I decided to get a little creative. I took the pieces and sewed them in the back to make a long flowing cape.
Now it was time for the accessories! Check out my next blog post to see how I made my hat and broom! 🙂
